Other Details to Note

This home is truly lakefront. Please be advised that children, if left unattended, can drown. Our yard is fenced in by the lake, but not fully around the entire property. Children must be supervised at all times. Non-motorized boating is allowed on the lake (paddle board, kayak etc.) but swimming is not allowed. We have a kayak available for rent during your stay for a minimal charge. Just let the host know if you’d like to use the kayak. Fishing is also permitted. This lakefront home has recently been renovated. Please note that the kitchen and bathrooms have only been partially remodeled. A new large capacity washer and dryer are available at the home for your use. Please note that they are in the kitchen but do have a great wooden workspace or storage area above them for versatility. There are pulldown shades on all bedroom windows, including the living room for those sleeping the couch bed. The bunk room also has blackout curtains on the sliding glass door. There are no shades on the kitchen or dining room windows. Propane is provided for the barbecue on the deck. We kindly ask that you cook or brush off your remaining food. And remember to turn off the propane when you are finished. This home is located at the end of a very quiet road, and cars almost never drive by. Walkers do exit the lake loop outside the front of the home, which is a great way to meet locals and visitors alike. We love interacting with guests and would be happy to meet you upon arrival or just let you self-check in without our involvement. We are happy to provide a "starter package" of goods for your stay, which includes toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, one dish sponge, dishwasher tabs, and laundry pods or detergent. There are many more items provided to you in the hopes of making your stay easy and enjoyable. We do our best to stock this rental very well, but it can become pricey for larger parties. Our hope is for you to begin enjoying your stay as seamlessly as possible, but the items included may not last the entire time. Please be prepared to buy these consumables as necessary. Cleanliness is important to us so a professional cleaning team ensures high standards between every stay.

This home is located in Black Mountain, North Carolina--named by Trip Advisor as the "Prettiest Small Town in America." At this serene lakefront location you will have access to many of Asheville’s most visited sites, such as Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Mt Mitchel, the Smokey Mountains, the Appalachian Trail, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Even more amazing is that this nearly 100-year old lake house is only 60 steps to the shoreline of Lake Tomahawk! Views abound out various windows of the home, as well as from the sprawling and comfortable tree-lined patio. This location is nothing short of perfect and there is nothing else like it for rent in Black Mountain! Breathtaking mountain scenery is all around you in Black Mountain. Whether you choose to stroll or jog around the lake on the path directly outside the home (.55 miles round trip), you will have access to endless activities for any age group, especially children. Join local kids on the playground, swim in the Black Mountain Community pool (closed till spring), play basketball and tennis on multiple courts, or stop by the community center to check out activities. You can also schedule a tee time at the adjacent Black Mountain Golf course or sign up with them for croquet. Never worry about the sound of power boats ruining your relaxing barbecue, as this lake is large enough to welcome an occasional kayaker or paddle boarder, but not big enough for motor boats (swimming in the lake is not allowed) . With the backdrop of the Seven Sisters Mountain range reflecting in the lake on a clear day, ducks or geese and their babies can always be spotted from park benches while sounds of concerts often fill the summer air. Remote control sailboat races usually take place every weekend in the warmer months. Watch the leaves change in the fall or delight in the spring blossoms as they wake the area after the snow and ice covered the lake during winter.

Guests have full access to the property, with the exception of two locked storage closets downstairs or the locked crawl space below the home. The yard is fenced on the lake side but not around the entire property. There is a small street behind the home, so please supervise your children at all times by the road and lake. This home is: *3-4 blocks to local eateries, breweries and shopping *4-minute drive to Ingles and Starbucks, 2-minute drive to coffee house favorite, the Drippolator, and 3-minute drive to popular breakfast/lunch restaurant, Louise’s *4-minute drive to the day spa, “Black Mountain Bodyworks,” for massages and facials *4-block walk to Cherry Street with access to boutiques, coffee shops, museums, art galleries, and restaurants *17 miles to downtown Asheville and 14 miles to the Biltmore Estate *5 minute drive to some of the most popular hiking and mountain biking trails in Asheville

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this spectacular lake house. My sister, daughter and nieces rented the house for 3 nights. Every bedroom was decorated beautifully, the kitchen was fully stocked with anything we may have wanted, including a popcorn machine. There were lots of seating areas to gather, dine and play games. However, our favorite place to be was on the gorgeous patio, surrounded by trees, with a view of the lake. We were even able to sit on the patio during a refreshing little rain storm. It was exactly what we all wanted and needed. The jacuzzi and fire pit were very nice additions, as well as the kayak. Ariel was kind enough to allow us an early entry, and he was quick to answer any questions we had. We all hope to return again. Perhaps we can make it a tradition! Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had such a fun time! The accommodations met all of our needs! The location was absolutely perfect! Loved walking around the area! What stood out the most was how communicative Jason and Ariel are! We loved our stay at the Lakehouse, one of our very favorite rental experiences. The location is just about impossible to beat—walkable in town, tucked onto a serene street, yards away from some of the best views in WNC. We had an 80 year span in our four generation gathering, and everybody was comfortable in the great beds. Amenities were beyond the standards we’d come to expect, with thoughtful stocking on essentials for this type of property, a grill in good shape, and a well appointed kitchen. Checkin and checkout procedures were more guest friendly than we were used to—truly, it feels like this is the rare find where the hosts are doing a bit more than they have to to make the experience the best it can be. We’ll definitely be back.

The Lake house was perfect for us! 8 of us stayed at the house for celebrating a graduation and 10-12 of us gathered there for lunch and breakfast and it was great fit. It is literally steps away from a sweet little lake, that had baby ducks and geese when we were there in the spring and was a lovely 15 minute walk to downtown Black Mountain. The hosts were great - when I reached out for recommendations on a restaurant or caterer to help us with after the graduation lunch, they wrote back quickly and made great recommendation. thank you! Oh, and they recently added a game table and my husband loved it and we always knew were to find him, haha.
